The UST Faculty of Pharmacy offered a Clinical Preceptor Training Program titled “Becoming an Effective Clinical Faculty/Preceptor” in collaboration with the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) from January 9 to 10, 2019 at the Faculty of Pharmacy, UST Main Building in Espaňa, Manila.
The international speakers were: Asst. Prof. Christina Haaf, Pharm.D., a Clinical Pharmacist specializing in Oncology; Asst. Prof. Jennifer Pham, Pharm.D., a Clinical Pharmacist whose specialization is in Neonatal/Pediatrics and Prof. Alan Lau, Pharm.D., the director of International Clinical Pharmacy Education in UIC.
The training was attended by 95 participants composed of invited clinical preceptors from various partner institutions and practice sites of the Faculty of Pharmacy such as Mercury Drug Corp., Watsons Healthcare Company, partner hospitals like Makati Medical Center, St. Luke’s Hospital Quezon City and St. Luke’s Hospital Bonifacio Global City, Delos Santos Hospital, as well as faculty members who teach clinical pharmacy courses.
The training program was geared toward the development of the essential teaching skills and attributes of an effective clinical pharmacy educator in practice sites.
