Creativity and safety are at the top of the list for holding events in the new normal, and the UST College of Information and Computing Sciences (CICS) has stepped up their game. Faithful to the core of the programs under CICS, the college made it possible for their students from Classes 2020 and 2021 to virtually celebrate their graduation using the popular open-world sandbox game Minecraft. After all, it was Christian Nobleza, a student of CICS who initiated to use Minecraft to relive UST activities and traditions such as the Welcome Walk for Freshmen, Paskuhan, send –off ceremonies, among others, to share the experience to freshmen who have never been into the University campus due to the pandemic.
The solemn investitures were on August 28, 2021.
“You are graduating into a transformed world, into a moment in world history full of opportunities and possibilities that did not exist 18 months ago,” said CICS Dean Jerralyn T. Padua as she congratulated the new graduates.
In total, 69 students obtained their Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree, 157 students graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree, and 71 students completed the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems degree.
