A memorandum of understanding between the University of Santo Tomas, through the initiative of the UST Graduate School – Center for Conservation of Cultural Property and Environment in the Tropics (USTGS-CCCPET), and Eastern Visayas officials was signed on September 5, 2019.
The MOU is expected to generate meaningful collaborations in heritage and tourism projects in Eastern Visayas such as assistance in the nomination of Samar Island Natural Park to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, cultural mapping activities in various districts and towns, and documentation of built heritage structures in the region.
The MOU signing was attended by the Department of Tourism Regional Director Ms. Karina Rosa Tiopes, UST Graduate School Dean Prof. Michael Anthony C. Vasco, Ph.D., CCCPET Director Assoc. Prof. Eric B. Zerrudo, PhD, and College of Tourism and Hospitality Management Dean Atty. Gezzez Giezi G. Granado, DCL.
