Students from the BS Tourism Management program, major in Recreation and Leisure Management, won the Best Paper Award in the recently held Youth Asia Pacific Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (APacCHRIE) Conference. The event was hosted by Sunway University, Malaysia on May 23 to 25, 2022, via Zoom.
Rei Abigail M. Co, Karl Richard S. Dela Torre, Liam Jan P. Guerrero, Christine Jean R. Javier, Raven Denzel S. Razon, Pamela I. Rosindi, Graciela Kristine F. Soriano and their adviser, Mr. Jame Monren T. Mercado, presented their research paper titled “Agkuyog (Together): Community Participation in Tourism Development for the New Normal – The Case of Candon City, Ilocos Sur, Philippines”. They studied the community participation in tourism development for the new normal in Candon City using the qualitative-phenomenological approach.
Two other teams from CTHM presented their papers during the main conference with the titles, “Social Media Applications as Marketing Tool of Chicken Takeaway Establishment during Pandemic,” by Kyle Monrae Padonan, Krystle Mae Caubalejo, Cara Justine Baldovino, Christine Mae Pagdilao and Miguel Victor Amat, together with their adviser Mr. Karl R. Baroro, and “Influence of Mobile Food Delivery Experience on Customer Reuse Intention during Covid-19 Pandemic,” by Joshua Anthony Samaniego, Portia Tuazon, Angelica Beatriz Ubuñgen, Vincent Philip Vaño, together with their advisers Ms. Kathrine Camille A. Nagal and Dr. Agnes Jocelyn Bandojo.
