Three Thomasians reap awards in the 72nd Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature

Three Thomasians bagged their respective awards in the 72nd Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature held on November 22, 2024 at the Philippine International Convention Center.

Center for Creative Writing and Literary Studies resident fellows Mark S. Angeles, MA, LPT bagged the first prize in the Maikling Kuwento category for his entry entitled “Gagambang-Bahay”, while Joel M. Toledo won the first prize in the Poetry category for his entry, “Silangan.”

Angeles is a faculty member of the College of Education and the Faculty of Arts and Letters. Toledo is a faculty member of the Faculty of Arts and Letters and a Resident Fellow of the UST CCWLS.

Meanwhile, UST Junior High School alumnus (Class of 2008) Jan Kevin Rivera won 1st place in the Short Story category for his work entitled “Muted City.”

The Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature is the longest-running and most prestigious literary competition in the country.
