Speech-Language Pathology faculty members present papers on language development of four-year olds at TRANSCEND 2018

Faculty members of the College of Rehabilitation Sciences Department of Speech Language Pathology presented papers at the June 19, 2018 TRANSCEND – the biennial convention of the Philippine Association of Speech Pathologists (PASP) held at the SMX Convention Center, SM Aura in Taguig City.

Led by UST Speech-Language Pathology Department Chair Ms. Judith Damian, the faculty were not only participants, but were also organizers and presentors during the scientific sessions.

Paper presentors were Ms. Czarina Maximo, who delivered the research paper titled “Speech intelligibility of typically-developing Filipino-language dominant children aged four years old enrolled in ECCD-monitored day-care centers in Metro Manila: a secondary data analysis” and Mr. Jonathan Gerona, who delivered the research paper titled “Lexical diversity and density of typically-developing Filipino-language dominant children aged 4 years old enrolled in ECCD-monitored day-care centers in Metro Manila: a secondary data analysis.”

This year’s convention was held in partnership with the American Speech Hearing Association (ASHA). It was considered a milestone as this is the first time that PASP and ASHA worked closely together for one convention. In attendance were the officers and esteemed members of ASHA led by its president, Dr. Elise McFarland and Chief Staff Officer, Dr. Lemmietta McNeilly.
