Mr. Leonardo O. Quimson, Jr., a Fundamentals of Faith faculty member of the UST Senior High School, was awarded as an Outstanding Educator in Values Education during the online Luminary Excellence in Education and Research Awards 2021, organized by Lumina Foundation for Integral Human Development.
The May 2, 2021 awarding ceremonies recognized educators in the various subject areas. Quimson, who holds a secondary education degree from UST, stated that “The youth of today needs witnesses, not just teachers. They need someone to emulate, someone who will let them realize what really matters in life. As teachers of life, we must know by heart of this great task given to us by the Lord.”
In an interview with the Communications Bureau, Quimson thanked the Lumina Foundation for Integral Human Development and the Network of Professional Researchers and Educators (NPRE) for recognizing “my humble efforts for God and for the Church.” He likewise thanked his mentor from the De La Salle University Theology and Religious Education Department, Dr. Fides del Castillo, and UST Senior High School Principal Mary Erika N. Bolaños.
Quimson dedicated the recognition to his family, students, and co-teachers in the values education ministry, whom he called on to “keep the flame burning in our hearts in inspiring and guiding our learners. All teachers are Values formators. They truly need us especially nowadays. Always be connected to the Source of Light, our God, and radiate His love to our students in our mission as educators.”
