VISPERAS, Julie Christie G.

Assoc. Prof. Julie Christie Gutierrez Visperas is an esteemed medical professional and educator with a wealth of expertise in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and Pulmonary Vascular Disorders. She holds the Associate Professor IV position in the Department of Physiology and the Department of Medicine at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. She received her B.Sc. in Biology from the University of the Philippines, in Manila, in 1998 and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Santo Tomas, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in 2002. She had her residency training in Internal Medicine (2004-2006) and a Pulmonary Medicine Fellowship at the University of Santo Tomas (2007- 2008). She pursued Post-Doctoral Fellowship Training in Pulmonary Hypertension at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA, 2011. She likewise completed Point of Care Ultrasound Training at the University of South Carolina, USA, in 2015. She had her Master’s in Health Professions Education with Magna Cum Laude honors from the University of Santo Tomas Graduate School in 2017.With a dynamic career, Assoc. Prof. Visperas has undertaken various administrative roles, including serving as the Section Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and heading the Emergency Room at UST Hospital. She is also recognized as the Head of the Pulmonary Vascular Unit at CRM, UST Hospital, and the Pulmonary Vascular Unit in the Section of Thoracic Critical Care Medicine at Cardinal Santos Medical Center. Moreover, she serves as the Director for Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) at the USTF MS Ultrasound Unit and holds the position of Past President at the Philippine Society of Physiologists, Inc. In the realm of education, Assoc. Prof. Visperas is a dedicated member of the Education Committee of the Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Certification Academy and has contributed significantly as a Voting Panelist at the International Consensus Conference on Ultrasound in Medical Education. Her commitment to scholarship and research is evident in her interests, which encompass Pulmonary and Critical Care, Pulmonary Vascular Diseases, Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), and Medical Education.
