Assistant Professor Daisy Lopez Ilagan-Tagarda, MD, FPCP, FPSMID, holds the distinguished position of Assistant Professor 1 in the Department of Physiology and Department of Medicine at the UST Faculty of Medicine & Surgery. Her administrative prowess is evident in her roles as Chair of the TB Committee at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital, Chair of the Infection Prevention Control Committee, and Antimicrobial Stewardship at Diliman Doctor’s Hospital, and Vice Chair of the Research Ethics Committee at San Lazaro Hospital. Dr. Ilagan-Tagarda’s scholarly pursuits span across Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Risk Reduction and Crisis Management. She enriches her educational background with ongoing studies, pursuing an Executive Masters in Disaster Risk and Crisis Management at the Asian Institute of Management.

Dr. Ilagan-Tagarda’s extensive training includes a Fellowship in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital, Residency in Internal Medicine at St. Luke’s Medical Center Quezon City, and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. Notably, she earned her BS in Biology with honors from De La Salle University. Recognized for her academic excellence, she received awards such as First Place in Oral Case Presentation at the Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Annual Convention in 2014, among others.

As a Medical Specialist III at San Lazaro Hospital, a Fellow of the Philippine College of Physicians, and a Fellow of the Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Ilagan-Tagarda is deeply involved in her professional affiliations. Her contributions extend to the Infectious Diseases Society of America, reflecting her commitment to the field. She also serves as an Active Consultant at both UST Hospital and Diliman Doctors Hospital, embodying her dedication to providing high-quality healthcare services.
