Professor Elizabeth Angelica Espiritu Lapid-Roasa, MD, FPCP, FPSN, holds the esteemed position of Professor 1 in the Department of Physiology and the Department of Medicine at UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. Simultaneously, she serves as the Chair of the Department of Physiology and is an active member of the Dean’s Faculty Council at USTFMS, showcasing her commitment to academic leadership. Prof. Lapid-Roasa’s scholarly and research interests span Internal Medicine, Nephrology, specifically focusing on Diabetic Kidney Disease and Lupus Nephritis, as well as Medical Education and Physiology.
Her educational journey includes a Post Doctoral Fellowship in Nephrology at UST Hospital, where she later served as the Chief of the Section of Nephrology. As a Cum Laude graduate with merits, valedictorian of UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, and Summa Cum Laude BS Biology graduate from St. Louis University, Baguio City, Prof. Lapid-Roasa exemplifies academic excellence. Past positions such as President of the Philippine Society of Nephrology and various roles in regional and national boards highlight her leadership in the field. Prof. Lapid-Roasa is a Life Fellow of the Philippine College of Physicians and the Philippine Society of Nephrology, actively contributing as a member of the International Society of Nephrology and the Philippine Society of Physiologists. Dr. Elizabeth Angelica Roasa, a distinguished medical professional, serves as the Chapter Head and Contributor for the PCP Textbook of Internal Medicine (2023). Her expertise extends to nephrology, evident in her role as the Editor of “Save Your Kidneys,” a comprehensive guide on preventing and treating kidney diseases, published in 2015. In the realm of infectious diseases, Dr. Roasa co-authored the PSN Interim Guidelines for the Prevention, Control, and Management of COVID-19 in Hemodialysis Facilities under the Philippine Society of Nephrology in March 2020. Additionally, she contributes to shaping clinical practices through her memberships in the Consensus Panels for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Diabetes Mellitus guidelines. Her commitment to advancing medical knowledge is palpable, making her a valuable asset to various medical associations and publications.
