PERALTA, Elfritzson M.

Elfritzson M. Peralta has a master’s degree in Biology with the academic distinction of Summa Cum Laude from the University of Santo Tomas (UST). He is a faculty member in the Department of Biological Sciences of the UST College of Science. He primarily teaches ecology, statistical biology, field biology, and freshwater biology among BS Biology students. Currently, he is completing his Doctor of Philosophy in Biology. His research projects and extension works deal with freshwater biology, watershed ecology, and freshwater-protected areas. With his local and international collaborators, he has already published a number of studies in reputable peer-reviewed journals. He has already bagged awards from local and national professional organizations through these research works. He is a member of the National Research Council of the Philippines, the Philippine Society of Freshwater Science, the Japan Geoscience Union, the Southeast Asian Limnological Network, and the International Society of Limnology. He is currently serving as the Program Coordinator for the Organismic and Environmental Biology Cluster of the UST Department of Biological Sciences, a Registered Reviewer of the Environmental Impact Assessment Review Committee of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau, and the Technical Panel Chair of the Department of Science and Technology – National Committee on Biosafety of the Philippines for the Horizon Scan on Environment and Climate Change.
