Asst. Prof. Antonio J. Dayag, PhD of the UST Alfredo M. Velayo College of Accountancy is the 2020 Outstanding Certified Public Accountant in Education of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The conferment ceremonies took place on November 26, 2020, during the 75th PICPA Annual National Convention.
According to the citation, Dayag received the recognition for “his outstanding achievements and distinguished performance as a professional lecturer, educator, author, and CPA reviewer; for being a valuable contributor and focal person in various accounting education programs, committees, and institutions that merited him numerous citations and recognitions in the academe; for his exceptional leadership and significant involvement in numerous activities and advocacies geared towards the advancement of the accountancy profession, such as PICPA Education Sector and nACPAE; and for his continuous participation in various capacities in the projects of PICPA.”
Dayag teaches Cost Accounting and Management Advisory Services at UST, where he also earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting, his master’s in business administration, and his doctorate in commerce. He was also UST’s Chief Accountant from 1999-2005 and in such capacity served as member of the budget, hospitalization, tuition fee, and computerization committees.
This latest feather on his cap adds to his previous recognitions, such as the UST-AMV Alumni Association Accountancy Achiever Award – Private Practice Sector for the Category of the Academe, and a service award (25 years) for his continued teaching in UST, first in the College of Commerce and now in the UST-AMV College of Accountancy. In 2018, PICPA awarded him the “First PICPA Award for Accountancy Authors.”
Dayag co-authored books in Cost Accounting in 1999 and authored “CPA Reviewer in Practical Accounting 2” & “Advanced Financial Accounting & Reporting” since 2002.
