The Tiger Media Network (TMN) volunteers of the Communications Bureau reaped five awards in the 84th Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) College Media Conference, held March 1-2, 2024 in New York City, United States of America.

Angelica Cherie Mendoza earned the “Best Business Director for Television” award. Paolo Alejandrino was named the “Best Promotions Director”, while Angela Lamsen bagged the “Best Social Media Director award.”

Meanwhile, the UST Tiger Radio was named the “Best Streaming/Online Only Radio Station”. Lastly, TMN’s “Grand Yellow Day: Wear Your Best Yellow Campaign” was adjudged the “Best Social Media Campaign Award.”

TMN is the official broadcasting arm of the University of Santo Tomas. It is manned by volunteers from different academic units.

On January 23, 2023, the University of Santo Tomas brought home 19 awards in the 10th Student Quill Awards, organized by the IABC Philippines.

Meanwhile, UST was named the “First Runner-Up” after reaping three Excellence Awards and 16 Merit Awards.

The 10th Philippine Student Quill Awards is the student division of the Philippines Quill Awards, the country’s most prestigious event that currently celebrates its 20th year in recognizing reputable organizations and corporations nationwide that produces exemplary communication research, programs, skills, and creative work.

IABC vetted the entries through its global standards that measure the brightest and the sharpest in the communication industry.

On Feb. 25, 2023, UST, though the Communications Bureau’s Tiger Media Network, the official student-run broadcast arm of UST, bagged a total of six awards in the 83rd Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) College Media Conference, held at Sheraton Times Square in New York City, USA.

UST Tiger TV received five awards in the said conference.

The Facebook page UST Tiger TV was hailed as the “Best Social Media Account.” Four more recognitions came in the form of the Len Mallioux Management awards, which were conferred upon:

1) Charlene Beatrice Go (UST College of Fine Arts and Design – TMN)- Best Creatives Services Director, Television – College Division

2) Janis Andriella Santiago (UST Faculty of Arts and Letters – TMN)- Best Student Station Manager, Television – College Division

3) Asst. Prof. Faye Martel-Abugan, MA (Communications Bureau; TMN adviser)- Best Faculty Advisor, Television – College Division

4) Angelica Mendoza (UST College of Commerce and Business Administration) – Best Promotions Director – Television – College Division

The Len Mallioux Management award is bestowed by IBS, a network of academe-related media broadcasting organizations.

Meanwhile, Tiger Radio bagged the sixth award and was named the “Best Streaming/Online-Only Radio Station for schools with more than 10,000 students”.

The Tiger Media Network is the official broadcasting arm of the University that operates under the supervision of the Communications Bureau. TMN produces content through Tiger TV with the use of internet protocol television (IPTV) and through Tiger Radio, the University’s e-radio airing via Mixlr.

Anchored on the “community pantry” concept, the Behavioral Science (BES) academic program under the UST Faculty of Arts and Letters launched a series of talks on healthy positivity. The lectures highlighted the combined efforts of BES faculty members, students, and alumni who joined forces in setting up a series of learning sessions using homegrown talents aimed at promoting well-being and a positive mindset amid these challenging times.


Held on October 20, 2021, was the second session of the series. Titled “Promoting Healthy Positivity in the Workspace,” it featured veteran Human Resource practitioners from the Behavioral Science department Ms. Khiara Desiree L. Agnote, Assoc. Prof. Maria Vida Caparas, Ph.D., and Mr. Ferdinand Magkasi.


Agnote discussed “From A to Engagement: A Brief Guide to Thrive at Work and in Life,” while Caparas delivered “Achieving Mental Wellness in the New Normal.” Magkasi tackled “Maintaining Boundaries: Family, Work, and Leisure.”
The first session of the webinar on “Healthy Positivity in the Personal Space” was held on September 24, 2021. It featured three BES faculty members who are seasoned online lecturers on mental health and wellness.


Psychological Association of the Philippines President Dr. Marc Eric S. Reyes, a full professor at the UST Department of Psychology, delivered the opening remarks.


Faculty members teaching professional courses Mr. Gian Carlo M. Ledesma and Mr. Joseph B. De Roxas presented their topics. Ledesma presented “Decision Making and Goal Setting Amid the Pandemic,” while De Roxas talked about “Call a Friend: A Student’s Guide to Anyone in Crisis.”


Capping the first session of the webinar was the lecture on “Self-Love through Self-Compassion” delivered by Interdisciplinary Studies Department Chair and BES Program Coordinator Dr. John Manuel R. Kliatchko.


The webinar, held in partnership with the Behavioral Science Society and Tiger Media Network, was broadcast live on Facebook through TigerTV’s page. It was organized as part of the Quasquicentennial celebration of the Faculty of Arts and Letters.
